    Fall Trees
    Ragged Mountain Natural Area

Charlottesville, VA is growing like so many areas in the nation. As a result we need more water and hence a new dam is proposed to raise the water level at Ragged Mountain Natural Area which is also a city and county reservoir. The new dam will raise the water level 45 feet destroying over 130 acres of mature forest, old ruins, the original dam and most of the existing trails there. Before this occurs I am trying to document the area to be innundated. Visit my new gallery on RMNA to enjoy the lovely fall colors and a few unique features soon to be lost. Click on the image to the right to see more.

    Tecumseh Hiss
New Images from Cooper's Rock Mountain Lion Sanctuary!
    <

If you enjoyed the cats before come see these new images! It's summer time now and the sanctuary is beautiful. A cool respite from hot and humid Central Virginia. My family and I enjoyed 4 days at Mountain Creek Cabins next to the sanctuary. A lovely cabin in the woods right on a burbling creek click here to see the stream. You can't ask for more peace and quiet. The cougars were spectacular as always. Mark, the director, was kind enough to feed them for me. Tecumseh is most ferocious at meal time as you can see in the image to the left. The greenery at this time of year offered many more opportunities for images. I was able to capture several nice images of Tecumseh a few more of the ever photographic and friendly Mariah and for the first time Jackson came out to visit! Such a beautiful bobcat he seemed to like my husband.

All of the cats love Mark. You should see them run up and purr for him! They know who takes care of them. Please take an opportunity to enjoy a weekend at their cabins and see the cougars. These are expensive animals to care for and it's a great service he does for them. Mark has been particuarly hard hit with insurance costs on these animals. If you can't make it up consider making a donation directly to the sanctuary or purchase a signed print. I donate 30% of the proceeds to the sanctuary. I'd love to donate more next year. In the meantime enjoy the cats!

      Happy New Year!

Hoping everyone had a fabulous holiday season. Not much to report right now. The print of the month is from a trip I made to Yellowstone in January of 2006. An incredibly amazing place, I feel it's true beauty really shines in the winter. At some point I will have more images up from that trip.
